Carpool Lines Morning and Afternoon
We have implemented some changes in our carpool arrangement for mornings to help make the flow of traffic go more smoothly and in order to keep everyone walking across the parking lot safe.
In the Morning
There is just one lane for drop off. Please pull all the way up to the crosswalk to drop off. Make sure your child is ready, has their backpack and belongings and exits the car on the right hand side of the vehicle. When you exit the parking lot, please turn right.
Pre-Kindergarten 3 and 4, please park in one of the spaces along the middle driveway and use the crosswalk. There is a designated walkway for you along the chain to walk to the door of the pre-K building. This is the safest way for you to enter the building.
As winter weather approaches, it will be more practical for you to drop your child off than to park and walk them into the building. This arrangement has been working well and the line will move as long as drivers do not exit their vehicle while in the line. Also please note that students will enter the building with their class at 8:25 a.m. so they should be dropped off before 8:25. Students are tardy at 8:35.
In the Afternoon
If your child’s last name begins with the letters A, B or C, you can pick them up at the Cornelia Avenue gate on the north side of the school building. Cornelia Ave. is a one way street and the entire curb next to the school is available for parking and pickup between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m.
There are two pick-up lines along the side of the building in the afternoon. Pull up to the crosswalk if you are first in line and that is where you can pick your child up. Students are dismissed to be ready for pickup at 3:30 p.m. so if you are here earlier, you may have to wait in the line for a few minutes until everyone has been dismissed. The right turn only rule is in effect until 3:45 p.m.
COVID-19 Updates and Changes
We have seen a slight increase of COVID-19 cases among our students and their parents compared to last year. Even so, we are still not at the point where we have had the virus spread within our school. We will be making a few modifications to our practices at this point, including the morning temperature checks at school. I know that we are all pretty “covid-weary” at this point, but the fact that we are seeing an increase in cases among our students, and their parents, over last year is an indication that we must still be careful as we consider the safety of our students.
Thank You For Helping Our School!
We deeply appreciate your involvement in our fall fundraiser. This is a huge help to the school and helps provide things we might not be able to get because they are not covered by tuition expenses.
End of the First Nine Weeks Grading Period
It may be hard to believe but the first nine weeks grading period will be over on October 22. At that point, we will be one fourth of the way through the school term. October 29 will be our first parent conference day and students will not have classes on that day. We hope all the news you get that day is good news.
You are always welcome to contact your child’s teacher via email to find out how they are doing. Our teachers also update their grades on gradelink which you can access through your portal. Email addresses are the teachers first initial and last name @ mca.school. Please allow 24 hours for a response.
